We have been in business since 1944. Our hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturdays and closed on Sundays.      

The Buckhorn will be closed on Saturday, November 10 for a major Anniversary.  We'll be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, NOvember 22nd.  The dates closed for Christmas will be Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th.  We'll also be closed on Monday, December 31st and Tuesday, New Year's Day. 

If you're in a hurry, you might not want to stop as we are a small place with a small kitchen and everything is cooked fresh and nothing is pre-made, so it takes a little longer!!              

The Buckhorn has been featured New Mexico Magazine, Sunset Magazine and #1 Burger in the West, Saveur Magazine, and also in Everyday with Rachael Ray Magazine.

The Bobby Flay Throwdown Book has just beeen published and we made the book.  Bobby Flay even previewed the book on the CBS Early Show and featured the green ...chile

Bobby Olguin owner of the Buckhorn Tavern  in San Antonio, New Mexico is a third generation owner which was established in 1943.   

The Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger was rated #7 Burger in America by GQ Magazine in 2005 and the “Baddest Burger in the Land” by the Nightlife Flavor Roundup on the Marlboro.com website.

In May, 2009 the “Green Chile Cheeseburger Duel” was on between Bobby Olguin and Bobby Flay….and the winner was…..Bobby Olguin’s Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger.  In honor of the event, New Mexico’s Governor, Bill Richardson, declared July 24, 2009 as the Buckhorn Tavern Day, proclaiming that the state’s revenue in green chile sales was way up for the year.  The national publicity proved very beneficial for both the State’s main staple as well as for the Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger.

Celebration of the Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger and Bobby Olguin’s win over Bobby Flay continued during 2009 by naming him the Grand Marshal at New Mexico’s State Fair and Parade Marshal of the Aspenfest Parade in Ruidoso, NM. 

New Mexico Magazine featured the Buckhorn Tavern twice and we were featured in the New Mexico’s Tourism Department’s Green Chile Burger trail.   Bobby was asked to teach a class during the 20th Annual Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta, featuring New Mexico’s green chile.  Another adventure for Bobby Olguin, was to Host the first season of New Mexico’s Hot Chefs.  The TV show aired every Sunday on KASA Fox and promoted New Mexico’s best restaurants. 

New Mexico’s 2011 State Legislature sent a proclamation Honoring a Special Champion Chef to Bobby Olguin, citing his accomplishments and continued success by demonstrating their approval of the Buckhorn’s Green Chile Cheeseburger.  In the proclamation, it was stated that Bobby Olguin continues to promote and educate visitors on New Mexico’s green chile.
